Nine workshops cover the full scope of AI in schools — from how AI works and your legal obligations, through classroom prompting and lesson design, to governance frameworks and building staff capability. You’ll leave with practical tools you can use immediately: draft policies, prompt templates, a readiness snapshot, lesson designs, and a PLD pathway. Everything is grounded in current NZ legislation and NZQA guidance — not generic advice from overseas.
This series of eight online workshops gives teachers and school leaders the knowledge, tools, and confidence to use AI effectively in their schools.
Please note that all prices are listed per person.
Artificial intelligence is changing how schools plan, teach, assess and operate. This online series gives board members, principals and teachers the knowledge and confidence to use AI effectively, responsibly and strategically. It spans the full range, from AI essentials and quick wins through to governance, risk management and digital leadership in schools. Every session is grounded in current New Zealand legislation and NZQA guidance, and you walk away with tools you can use the next morning.
The eight workshops run in two parts.
Part 1: Understanding and Applying AI (3–24 August)
AI essentials and quick wins, effective prompt design, practical AI assistants for school workflows, and AI-enhanced lessons and assessment.
Part 2: Governance and Leadership (31 August–21 September)
AI readiness, responsible and compliant use, governance and risk management, and building internal capability.
Part 1 lays the foundation: what generative AI is, how it works, and how to use it day-to-day.
Choose what suits you: all eight workshops, Part 1, or Part 2. The full series is the best value.
Workshops run on Monday evenings, 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm, online via Microsoft Teams. Links are sent by email ahead of each session.

Dr Rod Lane leads the design and delivery of these AI workshops. He is Director of Innovation and Technology at the New Zealand School Boards Association and a former Associate Professor of Education at Macquarie University, Sydney.
Rod is an active researcher in AI in education, with peer-reviewed papers on the application of generative AI in schools published in leading international journals. He is a keynote speaker on AI governance, risk management and effective integration of technology in the classroom. He led the development of an AI-powered policy designer that is used by schools across New Zealand.
Rod’s career spans classroom teaching, teacher education and senior academic leadership. He has an understanding of best practice research and practical knowledge of how schools actually work.
Rod designs every workshop for the people doing the work — principals, teachers, IT coordinators, and administrative staff — so participants leave with the confidence, skills, and judgement to use AI effectively, safely, and in ways that genuinely improve student learning outcomes.
Rod is passionate about education and how technology can help school leaders and educators do their best work — improving learning outcomes, efficiency, and leadership.
