Via Ministry of Education funding, NZSBA's employment and governance advisory services, as well as learning and professional development opportunities for school board members, is available to all state and state-integrated schools.
NZSBA's confidential Advisory & Support Centre (ASC) is staffed by a team of both employment and governance advisors. The service is open 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Our advisors have a range of board experience, employment and legal backgrounds and are well equipped to handle your queries about any issues that may arise in your role as a school board member.
The ASC is also your first point of contact for our specialist employment and governance advisors out in the field.

NZSBA employs a team of employment and governance advisors across the country who provide more intensive, tailored support for boards and principals where required. Our advisors are all experienced practitioners with extensive experience in dealing with employment and governance matters.

All school board members receive regular, timely emails from us on issues in the education sector, as well as proactive advice and guidance.
GovHub also produces a number of publications that are distributed to all boards, such as our Board and Principal Matters publications which assist boards in their termly planning.
Since 1995 we have administered the Emergency Staffing Scheme (ESS) on contract to the Ministry of Education. The ESS scheme continues to fill a significant role in providing "last resort" emergency staffing cover for mainly small schools which are experiencing difficulties in replacing or providing temporary cover for a principal.
