Member Login Tēnā koutou member boards,
It’s time for our National Board and President elections for the 2026-2029 term.
Our returning officer for all 2026 NZSBA elections is Schooled Election Pilot. Nominations for these elections open 30 April. Schooled Election Pilot will send the principal of every current financial member board a nomination form and background information. The principal will be invited to share that information with their board.
As a member board, you are invited to nominate people for these positions and, if required, vote for your board’s preferred candidate(s).
What is the National Board?
Te Whakarōpūtanga Kaitiaki Kura o Aotearoa is a not-for-profit, incorporated society that is required to have a board of directors. The National Board is both collectively and individually responsible for the fiduciary duties of running NZSBA.
The National Board sets the strategic direction, approves annual plans, ensures financial sustainability and that the Association operates both legally, ethically and complies with both the Incorporated Societies Act and the NZSBA Constitution.
The National Board meets every 6-8 weeks for a full-day meeting. There may also be opportunities to sit on sub-committees of the board. Attendance at National conferences is considered compulsory.
National Board members serve a three‑year term.
How about the President role?
The President serves as both Chair of the National Board and head of the organisation’s membership arm. This is a full‑time role that combines governance responsibilities with day‑to‑day operational leadership.
The President provides overall leadership of the organisation, advocates on behalf of members, and builds strong relationships with key stakeholders across the education sector. They oversee the delivery of national events, including the annual conference, and work closely with the CEO, providing guidance and support. As the organisation’s principal media representative, the President regularly undertakes public speaking engagements and represents the organisation in external forums.
If you are interested in standing for either the National Board or President, please put yourself forward. Full information can be found in the elections handbook.
