About the role (please read the position description for full details, link below)

Reporting to the Director Service Delivery, you will be a dynamic and energetic individual providing regional support and guidance to School Boards and Principals to achieve outstanding results for students through good governance and best practice HR and Employment Relations. You will do this through excellent relationship management, accurate assessment and evaluations of school boards, in-depth product knowledge, development of individualised planning for professional development and learning, and case management of all employment matters such as personal grievances and disputes.

You will need to be flexible to work outside usual office hours as required and enjoy travelling to meet your clients.

Our office is in Mt Eden in Auckland and there is flexibility to work from home. There will be regular travel required to support schools throughout the Northern region, and a requirement to attend team meetings in the Auckland office and full staff meetings in our national office based in Wellington. A work vehicle will form part of your remuneration package.

About you

  • Confident facilitator with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret legislation and collective / individual employment agreements
  • Sound understanding of governance, human resources and employee relations
  • Experienced in leading employment and mediation processes
  • Ideally experience or understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a parent elected board member
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori, including comfort in a te reo Māori environment.
